Welcome to the website of the Department of Microbiology at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.
Microbiology is a branch of biology that deals with the molecular characterization of prokaryotes, as well as their diversity and ecology. New microbiological findings find application in biotechnology, medicine, and environmental protection.
The Department of Microbiology is located at the LMU Biocenter in Martinsried, on the southwestern outskirts of the state capital of Munich.
